FUEL TANKS

Updated: Jul 15

ACS sets the standard in providing superior and dependable fuel tanks, from UL 142 and UL 2085 to day tanks and sub-base fuel tanks for industrial gen-sets.

Our engineering staff utilizes their knowledge of diesel fuel system state and national codes to ensure that tanks are properly sized, designed and fabricated to meet your specifications.  All tanks undergo a rigorous quality control inspection and are tested in accordance with standards. And ACS takes great pride in making certain that all orders are correctly scheduled to ship in a timely manner and meet requested dates.

  • Day Tank Pump & Control System

  • Fuel Filtration Systems

  • OSHA Platform, catwalk, & access steps

  • Heater - Cold Weather Installations

  • Ground Level Fuel Fill Station

  • Offshore paint application

  • Capacities up to 20,000 gallons

  • Packaging with GenSet and Enclosure

  • Fuel Tank Fill Annunciator

UL 142 FUEL TANK

Our UL 142 tank features a carbon steel, double wall design specially designed to protect against tank leak or rupture. The outer wall protects the inner wall from environmental damage and creates an additional containment barrier in the unusual event that the inner tank ever ruptures.

  • Sub-Base Fuel Tank

  • Stand Alone Rectangular

  • Stand Alone Cylindrical

UL 2085 FUEL TANK

ACS is one of the few manufacturers to have a ballistic rating on our tanks. Our UL 2085 has a carbon steel outer shell with 6” of concrete encasing a carbon steel fuel tank. The combination of outer shell and concrete creates a ballistic barrier, a 2-hour fire rating, and impact resistance.

  • Sub-Base

  • Stand Alone Rectangular

  • Stand Alone Cylindrical

GENERATOR SET BASE FUEL TANKS

Our secondary containment sub-base fuel tanks for industrial gen-sets are designed, fabricated and tested in accordance with UL-142 standards and labeled per UL-142 specifications. ACS's Series 1800 fuel tanks are UL approved design for tanks measuring up to 48" high x 144" wide x over 480" length with a fuel capacity of up to 18,000 gallons.

STANDARD CONSTRUCTION:

  • Tanks are designed to support the weight of the Gen-Set packaged equipment

  • Both the primary tank and secondary tanks are pressure tested to 3 PSI.

  • Material of construction:

         - Primary tank is constructed of 10 gauge; sides, ends, bottom and baffles

          (baffles separate cold/hot returning fuel).

-Secondary tank is constructed of 1/4" thick sides, 7 gauge ends, bottom and top.

-Four(4) lifting lugs, designed to lift the weight of the tank. Lifting lug capacity is UL approved.

STANDARD FEATURES:

  • One(1) 2" fuel fill locking manual cap

  • One(1) fuel supply - NPT size determined by engine kw or customer specification

  • One(1) fuel return - NPT size same as fuel supply.

  • Primary tank normal vent cap - Size determined by tank capacity. Vent will be piped to outside and above the enclosure roof, on packaged units.

  • Two(2) emergency pressure relief vents (One(1) Primary, One(1) Secondary) - Size determined by tank wetted surface area. (Calculated based on 100% primary tank).

  • One(1) fuel gauge direct reading indicator gauge.

  • One(1) low level float alarm switch assembly - with 1/2" NPT electrical connection.

  • One(1) secondary tank leak detector float alarm switch assembly - with 1/2" NPT electrical connection.

  • One(1) 1" NPT secondary tank drain - with plug.

  • One(1) electrical stub area - size and location determined by gen-set kw.

  • All connections are labeled for identification.

  • Exterior tank surfaces are cleaned, primed and painted per customer requirements.

OPTIONS:

  • High level float alarm switch assembly with 1/2" NPT electrical connection.

  • 1" NPT primary tank over flow connection.

  • 2-6 GPM fuel supply and return motor/pump.

  • 6-10 GPM fuel supply manual pump.

  • 7 1/2 Gallon fuel spill container assembly - mounted inside or outside enclosure.

  • Fuel immersion heater assembly with low fuel shutoff switch.

  • Fuel tank monitoring panel - wired to fuel tank connections.

  • Fuel tank annuciator panel - wired to fuel tank connections.

  • Combination low/high level float switch assembly with 1/2" NPT electrical connection for fuel pump start-up control.

  • UL rated lift lugs capable of lifting the entire package (gen-set, enclosure and tank)

OPTIONAL:

  • On heavy weight gen-set packaged assemblies, tanks are placed in a structural I-beam base skid with 4 lifting lugs that are designed to lift the entire gen-set packaged assembly.

  • ACS can fabricate tanks of 304 or 316 L stainless steel material.
