Job Summary: The QA Director is responsible for the development and execution of the Quality Management System (QMS). Once the system has been certified, assumes responsibility for on-going system maintenance and effectiveness of operation.
Job Responsibilities/Duties:
Position will require helping establish a process similar to ISO 9000-9001. Ongoing duties include:

Ensure QMS processes are established, implemented and maintained

Report to “top management” on the QMS performance and where improvements are needed

Ensure that everyone in the organization is aware of customer requirements

Train all company personnel in the documented company policies

Control and maintain the company audit and risk assessment schedule
-
Conduct safety, quality and environmental system compliance audits
-
Prepare and submit monthly management reports relating to company systems, compliance and incidents
-
Ensure personnel have received appropriate training and are assessed as competent to perform tasks

Maintain the company library of compliance resources including standards
-
Supervise workers engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure high productivity and high technical integrity

Develop and analyze statistical data and product specifications to determine standards and to establish quality and reliability expectancy of finished products

Provide technical and statistical expertise to teams

Formulate, document and maintain quality control standards and on-going quality control objectives.

Coordinate objectives with production procedures in cooperation with other plant managers to maximize product reliability and minimize costs

Create, document and implement inspection criteria and procedures

Interpret quality control philosophy to key personnel within company

Provide, and oversee, inspection activity for product throughout production cycle

Apply total quality management tools and approaches to analytical and reporting processes

Interact with vendors to ensure quality of all purchased parts

Create and direct environmental test functions and applications

Supervisory Responsibility
This position manages all employees of the department and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within that department.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
This role will require movement within the shop environment as well as traversing stairs. The role will also require considerable time at a computer workstation and the physical ability to lift files, etc.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., 40 hours per week.
Travel
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
Required Education and Experience
-
B.S. degree or equivalent experience/education combination.

Minimum of 7 years of related experience.

Supervisory/management experience.
Preferred Education and Experience
B.S. degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering.
